LETS RUN IT BACK! For the final time of the 2020 NFL and fantasy football season, Nate brings you his Streamable Defenses of the Week! It was another successful week on that front as each of Nate’s Week 15 options topped six fantasy points, with his top option going for 15 fantasy points. With Championship Week here, the stakes are higher than ever. Let's also not forget that his top options through 15 weeks are now the DST1 on the season. Yes, you read that right, DST 1! Let’s get into the Week 16 suggestions!
The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to every fantasy player. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.
The Dallas Cowboys’ 15 point Week 15 result propelled Nate’s Streamable Defenses of the Week into the DST1 spot on the season. The Cowboys did this against a battered 49ers’ offense led by Nick Mullens. The Cowboys recorded four total takeaways and two sacks. The Titans used three takeaways to post six fantasy points against the Lions and the New York Jets blanked the Rams in route to eight fantasy points.
Week 15 Results
Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers - 15 points
Tennessee Titans vs. Detroit Lions - 6 points
New York Jets at Los Angeles Rams - 8 points
Week 16 Suggestions
Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers - Owned in 34% of Yahoo and 39.7% of ESPN leagues
This 49ers team is a mess. It was announced today (Tuesday) that Raheem Mostert and Nick Mullens are both done for the season. This is added to the offensive list that is missing names such as Jimmy Garappolo, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. This leaves just C.J. Beathard as the team’s lone quarterback with Josh Johnson on the Covid list. The 49ers did go out and add Josh Rosen from the Buccaneers’ practice squad for whatever that’s worth. This 49ers offense has allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Play the Cardinals’ defense with confidence.
Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals - Owned in 18% of Yahoo and 11.4% of ESPN leagues
The Bengals shocked the league with it’s Primetime Monday Night Football victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the Bengals did post just 17 points in that game. They have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. This isn’t a fantastic play as the Houston defense is far from impressive, but I think with the matchup, there’s a safe floor here.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Chicago Bears - Owned in 1% of Yahoo and 0.6% of ESPN leagues
Options for defenses owned in less than 10-percent of leagues for Week 16 are scarce, very scarce. The best of the available options in my opinion (for whatever that’s worth) is the Jaguars who will play host to the Bears. The Bears have allowed the 11th most fantasy points to opposing defenses, which is why the Jaguars make this list. I know Mitchell Trubisky has been playing competent football as of late, but it’s still Trubisky, whose wheels could fall off at any given moment.
