Streamable Defenses of the Week - Week 3 (2024)

We rounded out Week 2 of the NFL season with a top five fantasy football defense. The Los Angeles Chargers, were the fifth highest scoring D/ST of the week. Anytime we can pull that off through this series, it is a massive victory in my book. We still managed to score some points and avoided the negatives with our middle and less than 10-percent owned suggestions as well. We’ve entered the top ten of D/ST in fantasy football through the first two weeks of the season as our top suggestion ranks as the D/ST7.

I’m one to never invest a high draft stock into team defenses. I play the waiver wire every single week to find my D/ST for the upcoming week. Due to this, I find myself never drafting a defense and waiting for just before the start of Week 1 to grab my first defense of the season. This is where this series comes into play. Every week I will be suggesting my favorite three team defenses that are regularly available on waiver wires across most formats. I will also keep a running total of how my selections measure up across the season below.

The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to as many fantasy players as possible. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.

The Chargers allowed just three points to the Carolina Panthers while recording two sacks and an interception en route to an 11 fantasy point performance. The Jacksonville Jaguars played the Cleveland Browns and were our middle suggestion, as they allowed 16 points while recording two sacks, totaling three fantasy points. The Washington Commanders were our less than 10-percent owned suggestion as they played the New York Giants. The Commanders scored four fantasy points while allowing 18 points and recording a sack and a fumble recovery.

Week 2 Results

Los Angeles Chargers at Carolina Panthers - 11 Points

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cleveland Browns - 3 Points

Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants - 4 Points

Overall Results

Top Suggestion - 20 Points (D/ST7)

Middle Suggestion - 6 Points (D/ST26)

Less than 10% Owned - 7 Points (D/ST24)

Week 3 Suggestions

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Denver Broncos (Owned in 6% of Yahoo and 3.2% of ESPN Leagues)

This Denver Broncos’ offense led by rookie Bo Nix has been bad to start the season. They have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The biggest problem is the team’s inefficiency on offense. They mustered just six points last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Nix has also thrown four interceptions through the first two weeks of the season and currently has a QBR of 35.7. Tampa just held a strong Detroit Lions’ offense to just 16 points in Week 2.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Carolina Panthers (Owned in 9% of Yahoo and 4.2% of ESPN Leagues)

As I stated last week, the Carolina Panthers are a team I will follow week-in-and-week-out with this series because let’s face it, they’re awful. We played the Chargers against them last week who had one of the highest scoring defenses of the week. The Raiders have some stellar pieces on their defense and just held Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens to 20 points and a loss in Week 2. The Panthers have allowed the third most fantasy points through the first two weeks of the season as well.

Tennessee Titans vs. Green Bay Packers (Owned in 1% of Yahoo and 1.2% of ESPN Leagues)

I love this play this week. Malik Willis is expected to start again for the Green Bay Packers. Willis didn’t look bad in the Packers’ Week 2 victory over the Colts, but he also didn’t look great. He isn’t going to throw for a lot of yards and if he is forced to, he will make mistakes and turn the ball over. There simply was never a need for him to throw a ton in the Packers’ Week 2 victory. Tennessee is a better defense than what they get credit for. They’ve had two tough matchups to start the season with the Chicago Bears and New York Jets but now get the plus matchup this week to shine.
