Streamable Defenses of the Week - Week 7 (2024)

It wasn’t to the same extent as Week 5, but Week 6 was still great for use on the Streamable Defenses of the Week forefront! Each of our three suggestions topped five fantasy points as two of them topped nine. The Philadelphia Eagles scored nine fantasy points against the Cleveland Browns as the Houston Texans defense scored 12 fantasy points against the Carolina Panthers. Our top suggestion has now collectively became the D/ST7 across fantasy football as we’ve also made strides from the slow start for our middle and under 10-percent owned suggestions. Now, onto Week 7!

I’m one to never invest a high draft stock into team defenses. I play the waiver wire every single week to find my D/ST for the upcoming week. Due to this, I find myself never drafting a defense and waiting for just before the start of Week 1 to grab my first defense of the season. This is where this series comes into play. Every week I will be suggesting my favorite three team defenses that are regularly available on waiver wires across most formats. I will also keep a running total of how my selections measure up across the season below.

The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to as many fantasy players as possible. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.

The Philadelphia Eagles were our top suggestion in Week 6 as they hosted the Cleveland Browns. The Eagles sacked Deshaun Watson five times and allowed just ten points en route to a nine fantasy point performance. The Houston Texans, serving as our middle suggestion, was our highest scoring suggestion of the week. They scored 12 fantasy points on the back of two interceptions and two fumble recoveries while recording four sacks and allowing 21 points. I referenced our under ten-percent owned suggestion in the Atlanta Falcons last week that they had a safe floor, but a limited ceiling. They did just that, recording five fantasy points while allowing 20 points to the Carolina Panthers and recording two interceptions.

Week 6 Results

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cleveland Browns - 9 Points

Houston Texans at New England Patriots - 12 Points

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers - 5 Points

Overall Results

Top Suggestion - 50 Points (D/ST7)

Middle Suggestion - 38 Points (D/ST15

Under 10% Owned - 35 Points (D/ST17)

Week 7 Suggestions

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns (Owned in 17% of Yahoo and 21.5% of ESPN Leagues)

I’ve said it before but at this point, when eligible, I’m going to play whomever is going against the Cleveland Browns. Through six weeks of the season, Deshaun Watson has been sacked 31 times. That’s 11 more times than the second most sacked quarterback in Caleb Williams. On average, Watson is being sacked 5.2 times-per-game. The Browns are also averaging just 240.2 offensive-yards-per-game. That’s the worst in the NFL by 13.2 points. Now, this Bengals’ defense is nothing special but once again, we’re playing the opponent here and I’m simply going to play anyone who plays the Cleveland Browns at this point.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Miami Dolphins (Owned in 25% of Yahoo and 27% of ESPN Leagues)

This play is another instance of playing the opponent more so than playing the team. If you haven’t caught on by now, that is essentially what this entire series revolves around. Either way, the Colts get the Miami Dolphins this week who have allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season. The Colts did have a fantastic matchup with the Tennessee Titans who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season and did not put up a crazy statline. Either way, this Dolphins’ offense without Tua Tagovailoa is darn near Cleveland Browns’ level bad (at least production wise.)

Los Angeles Rams vs. Las Vegas Raiders (Owned in 2% of Yahoo and 0.6% of ESPN Leagues)

Coming into Week 7, the Raiders have allowed the second most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Rams are fresh off a bye and played their best defensive game (at least in a fantasy football aspect) in Week 5 against the tough Green Bay Packers. The Raiders have also moved to start Aidan O’Connell at quarterback and traded away Davante Adams. With O’Connell under center, the Raiders scored just 13 points last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
