Streamable Defenses - Week 16

https://theathletic.com/1413533/2019/11/29/alexander-johnson-linebacker-denver-broncos-film-review-brandon-thorn/

Another solid week on the streamable defenses front. Our top option, the Kansas City Chiefs, posted 11 points in a blizzard against the visiting Denver Broncos. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were actually our top performers of the week with a 15 point performance while visiting the depleted Detroit Lions. Believe it or not, the Buccaneers’ defense is the second highest scoring fantasy defense over the last four weeks now. The Titans were our final selection and they posted just five points in a crucial loss to the Houston Texans. We have one more week in us for the season, let’s finish it off with a bang!

The Streamable Defenses of the Week article drops every Tuesday night on our website (www.weknowfantasy.com.) We feature three defenses that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues and at least one of those defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of leagues. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.

Week 15 Results

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos - 11 points

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions - 15 points

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans - 5 points

Week 16 Suggestions

Denver Broncos vs. Detroit Lions - Owned in 25% of Yahoo and 18.8% of ESPN leagues

The top option for this week’s streamable defense of the week is simple. The Denver Broncos will play host to the now talent-less Detroit Lions’ offense. The same Lions that just gave up 15 fantasy points to the Buccaneers’ defense last week. The Broncos defense has not been fantastic lately in terms of posting large fantasy numbers, but they are consistent. With David Blough still slinging the ball, who threw two interceptions and had a fumble without throwing a touchdown pass last week, the Broncos could be in line to see some takeaways. Play the Broncos with confidence this week.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Carolina Panthers - Owned in 30% of Yahoo and 41.1% of ESPN leagues

Now, you’re probably noticing that the Colts’ defense here is owned in more than 40% of ESPN leagues, but guess what, I make the rules around here and I do what I want. You’re also probably thinking, “why the Colts? They were just embarrassed on Monday Night Football?” The answer to that is simple, Will Grier. The third round pick will make his first career start after the Panthers announced that Kyle Allen has been benched. Prior to last week’s game with the Saints, the Colts’ defense had posted back-to-back double-digit fantasy point performances. The Colts are all but eliminated from the playoffs but still have something to prove.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Jacksonville Jaguars - Owned in 8% of Yahoo and 5.6% of ESPN leagues

Who knows what it is, but this Atlanta Falcons team really turned it around as of late. Not only their offense, but their defense, which at one point of the season looked god awful, has looked much better. They’ve posted 14 and 11 fantasy points against the Panthers and 49ers respectively over their last two weeks. Now they get the Jaguars who have allowed the ninth most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season. Look for the Falcons to continue to finish the season strong and have another great outing this Sunday.

Honorable mention

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans - Owned in 9% of Yahoo and 28.2% of ESPN leagues

I could not conclude this article or this series for the season without tossing in one of my favorite plays of the week. Last week the Buccaneers were included as my second streamable defense of the week and they had a fantastic showing. They’re now the second highest scoring fantasy defense over the last four weeks. The Houston Texans are fresh off a hard fought divisional match-up with the Titans and travel to Tampa on a short week (Saturday.) If all my other options are taken, don’t be afraid to roll with the Bucs!
