Waiver Wire Wishlist (Fantasy Basketball) - Week 6

Some of the gambles we went for last week didn’t pay off. Darius Bazley, who is in a career defining year with the Thunder, was getting the minutes we needed but didn’t do much with them. The likes of Bones Hyland had a decreased role this week and Frank Kaminsky has found himself on the IR. The rest of our suggestions were decent, but nothing out of this world. Let’s get onto Week 6!

I made the mistake of not entering a fantasy basketball league on ESPN, so I won’t have ownership numbers for there, but when it comes to basketball, the ownership between Yahoo and ESPN are very similar. With that being said, I will tend to stay under the 40-percent owned mark on Yahoo for my waiver wire suggestions this season. You can find out how our previous week went below and see the results of the entire season at the end of this article. I will suggest at least five players each week which will cover every position (PG, SG, SF, PF and C.) My suggestions too will revolve around both point-s and categories leagues. Also please note that position eligibility is not the same between Yahoo and ESPN so that will differ as well. Additionally, I will suggest at least one player owned in less than 10-percent of leagues to cater to all league shapes and sizes.

Bazley played just south of 30 minutes-per-game last week but mustered just 5.5 points-per-game. He did contribute elsewhere with his eight rebounds, nearly two assists and two blocks-per-game. Hyland saw a reduced role this past week after looking like he was coming for the starting role in the Nuggets’ backcourt. Josh Richardson continues to be a nice plug-and-play for both the Boston Celtics and your fantasy teams. He played over 26 minutes-per-game, scoring over ten points, grabbing 3.8 rebounds while adding an assist and half a block. Kamisky played just four minutes before hitting the IR and Herbert Jones played decently in his new expanded role in New Orleans due to injuries. He scored six points, grabbed 3.9 rebounds and recorded 1.3 steals. Daniel Theis played over 23 minutes for the Rockets while posting 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and nearly a block-per-game.

Week 5 Results (Last Seven Days)

Darius Bazley, SF/PF, Oklahoma City Thunder - 29:3 MPG, 5.5 PPG, 8 RPG, 1.8 APG & 2 BPG

Bones Hyland, PG/SG, Denver Nuggets - 11:3 MPG, 2.5 PPG & 1.8 RPG

Josh Richardson, SG/SF, Boston Celtics - 26:45 MPG, 10.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 1 APG & 0.5 BPG

Frank Kaminsky, C, Phoenix Suns - 4 MPG, 3 PPG & 3 RPG

Herbert Jones, SF, New Orleans Pelicans - 24:25 MPG, 6 PPG, 3.9 RPG & 1.3 SPG

Daniel Theis, PF/C, Houston Rockets - 23:4 MPG, 7.5 PPG, 4.2 RPG & 0.8 BPG

Week 6 Suggestions

Kevin Huerter, SG/SF, Atlanta Hawks - Owned in 34% of Yahoo leagues

Week 6 Matchups: vs. OKC, @SAS, @MEM & vs. NYK

Kevin Huerter has been starting for the red hot Atlanta Hawks since De’Andre Hunter went down with a wrist injury, which will see him sidelined for at least another six weeks. Huerter has started four games without Hunter, and played three from start to finish. In those three games he averaged 19 points, five rebounds and two assists. He’s playing over 34 minutes-per-game in those three games as well. He’s going to have fantasy relevance for a long time and is a must add this week.

Kevin Love, PF/C, Cleveland Cavaliers - Owned in 44% of Yahoo Leagues

Week 6 Matchups: vs. BKN, vs. PHX & vs. ORL

Kevin Love is owned in more than our 40-percent owned cut off in Yahoo leagues but he’s close enough that I’m going to go ahead and include him anyhow. Following an eight game absence, Love has played two games. He’s averaged 21.5 MPG, 14 PPG, eight rebounds and two assists. He’s going to see more minutes here as he gets healthier. He’s a former all-NBA type of player and is going to get it done in this Cleveland team. Add him now!

Patty Mills, PG/SG, Brooklyn Nets - Owned in 34% of Yahoo leagues

Week 6 Matchups: @CLE, @BOS & vs. PHX

Patty Mills is becoming fantasy relevant with the Nets’ absence of Joe Harris, who will miss a handful of upcoming games. Bruce Brown too is dealing with a hamstring injury and we know that both Kevin Durant and James Harden will miss time here-and-there. Mills will bring you points, three-pointers, steals, assists from time to time, and good shooting percentages. With the injuries the Nets are facing and how they can be without their stars at time, Mills is a very interesting add.

Chimezie Metu, PF, Sacramento Kings - Owned in 24% of Yahoo leagues

Week 6 Matchups: vs. PHI, vs. POR, @LAL & @MEM

Metu has been a surprise addition to a fully healthy Kings’ roster. In his last six games, he’s averaging 25 minutes, 10.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and nearly a block-per-game. While owned in less than a quarter of leagues, this is a great addition, especially as he has four games this week.

JaVale McGee, C, Phoenix Suns - Owned in 30% of Yahoo leagues

Week 6 Matchups: @SAS, @CLE, @NYK & @BKN

I wish McGee was seeing some more minutes but he’s getting it done with the limited court time he’s seeing. McGee is seeing more minutes due to the absence of Frank Kaminsky who was featured in our series a week ago. McGee has scored double-digit points in four of his last five games and even had a 19 point performance against the Rockets.. He’s averaging over seven rebounds in those last five games as well and has three games with two or more blocks. As long as Kaminsky is sidelined, McGee can be a decent plug-in big man for any fantasy team.

Hamidou Diallo, SG/SF, Detroit Pistons - Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues

Week 6 Matchups: vs. MIA, @MIL, @LAC & @LAL

Daillo came to the Pistons last season and Dwayne Casey said that he was going to be a focal point of the team’s offense. Although he had a super hot run in the last week of the season last year, he’s had some injuries derail his 2021-2022 campaign thus far. He had a very impressive outing against the Lakers on Sunday, going for 17 points and six rebounds in just over 21 minutes-per-game. In deeper leagues, this could be a diamond in the rough.

Week 2 Results (Last Seven Days)

Cam Reddish, SG/SF, Atlanta Hawks - 24:3 MPG, 14 PPG, 1.8 3PM, 2.5 RPG & 1.3 SPG

Monte Morris, PG, Denver Nuggets - 29:15 MPG, 13.5 PPG, 1.3 3PM & 4.5 APG

Precious Achiuwa, SF/PF, Toronto Raptors - 20:3 MPG, 6 PPG, 6 RPG & 0.5 BPG

LaMarcus Aldridge, PF/C, Brooklyn Nets - 20:19 MPG, 14.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG & 0.7 BPG

Damion Lee, SG/SF, Golden State Warriors - 29:3 MPG, 17 PPG, 4 3PM & 4.5 RPG

Week 3 Results (Last Seven Days)

Shake Milton, PG/SG, Philadelphia 76ers - 24:1 MPG,11.7 PPG, 3.8 APG, 4 RPG & 1 SPG

Jalen Brunson, PG/SG, Dallas Mavericks - 34 MPG, 23 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 3.7 APG & 1 SPG

Josh Hart, SG/SF, New Orleans Pelicans - 30:4 MPG, 11.7 PPG, 7 RPG & 2.3 APG

Serge Ibaka, PF/C, Los Angeles Clippers - 8 MPG, 1 RPG, 1 APG & 1 BPG

Jarred Vanderbilt, PF/C, Minnesota Timberwolves - 26 MPG, 8.3 PPG, 8 RPG & 0.7 BPG

Week 4 Results (Last Seven Days)

Anfernee Simons, PG/SG, Portland Trail Blazers - 21 MPG, 5 PPG, 1.7 RPG & 1.3 APG

Devin Vassel, SG, San Antonio Spurs - 26:4 MPG, 13.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 1.7 APG & 1 BPG

Malik Beasley, PG/SG, Minnesota Timberwolves - 25:3 MPG, 8.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG & 0.7 SPG

Josh Richardson, SG/SF, Boston Celtics - 30:3 MPG, 11.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.5 SPG & 1 BPG

T.J. Warren, SF/PF, Indiana Pacers - DNP

Georges Niang, SF/PF, Philadelphia 76ers - 24 MPG, 12.3 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 1.5 APG & 1.8 SPG
